Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit my portfolio. I've just recently completed a Bachelor of Creative Media Production at Massey University's College of Creative Arts, during which time I focussed predominantly on film, character design and 2D animation. In my final year, I was the Co-creator, Co-producer, Character Designer and Lead Animator for a 2D pixel art video game that my team and I developed for our Major Project.

If you're looking for the personification of the word perfectionist, you've found her. As most creative people will tell you about themselves: Beka Smyth is a storyteller whom adores narrative and creating media with which people will truly engage - and that has a positive impact and influence within our world. Beka is not constrained to a single media when it comes to these stories - with a plethora of skills in filmmaking, writing, character design, and visual art. If you asked 10-year-old Beka what she wanted to be; the answer was a writer, illustrator, cartoonist, artist, actress, and filmmaker - nothing about that answer has really changed and Beka loves the idea of being both adaptable and a jack of all trades. Having learned the importance of work ethic throughout school and university - and throughout the experience of competing as an elite hockey player for a solid 9 years - Beka is passionate about creating awesome, genuine and honest art that blows audiences away; through putting in the hard work and doing what it takes to create said art to the highest standard possible. The ultimate dream? To create immersive and complex story worlds that span multiple media and tell a compelling, diverse and morally captivating narrative - featuring flawed and loveable characters with which audiences can relate. In Beka’s mind; the ideal media tells a story, marries the concept of entertainment and joy, and is interwoven with a moral message or statement which provokes thought.
